The Triangle of Life Concept

Have you ever been in a situation where you prioritize something, but then something else had to pay for that?

You focus on the gym for 6 months, but your business is starting to pay the cost. Then you focus the next 6 months on the next boom of your business, and your spiritual decisions are absolutely wrong. You finally ask where the equilibrium is.

I like to call this the Triangle of Life, because it has 3 edges: Professionalism, Body, and Spirituality. And everything that we do in our daily lives impacts at least one of these edges of life.

We call "professionalism" to any aspect where reputation, social cues, or monetary compensation is involved. We call the "body" everything that shapes our physical reality as human beings, such as the food we eat, the supplements we take, the illnesses we have, etc. And we call spirituality to any action or connection that brings back our sense of plentyness; pray to God, ride a horse, or simply watch the ocean.

Any decision we take in our lives will shape one or more of these edges.

The importance of Mentors

Why are mentors important? When we start seeing actions as nutrients or threats in the Triangle of Life, we will begin to perceive that we want to find an equilibrium where these 3 edges work together and compound. Mentors are crucial because they will see blind spots in the work you are doing on the edges. Having a mentor for each edge will help you find this harmony in where things are working.

The Equilibrium is the Agenda

The reality is that the equilibrium itself doesn't exist; what exists is dedicated time and energy. How much do you spend doing your job vs going to the gym? The only way to know that is on the agenda; the equilibrium you think exists is found in the agenda. But it is not an equilibrium in an organization.

Everything has a cost, no matter what

Something needs to suffer for something to happen. That's the truth of life. Now, the equilibrium is when we control the suffering. The family of the entrepreneur who spends more hours working than hanging out with them will suffer. But how different would it be for the entrepreneur to set 3 hours weekly of quality time as a task? No distractions, just quality time. That suffering will be lower; it is calculated and controlled. In the same example, we can see that controlling the suffering is on the agenda. The agenda is the tool that will define your sense of "equilibrium" and control over what's suffering.

Conclusion

To make something happen, something else will pay for it. Make sure your pay is high, and control what you are paying.

FAQ

Q: What is the Triangle of Life?

A framework with three edges (Professionalism, Body, and Spirituality) used to evaluate whether your daily decisions nourish or threaten a balanced life.

Q: How do I find equilibrium between work, body, and spirituality?

Equilibrium does not exist on its own. It lives in your agenda. Schedule dedicated time for each edge and protect it like any other commitment.

Q: Why do I need a mentor for each edge of the Triangle?

Each edge has blind spots you cannot see alone. A mentor for each one (professional, physical, spiritual) accelerates compounding across all three.

Q: What does "controlling the suffering" mean?

Every choice has a cost. Controlling the suffering means deciding in advance what pays the price, so the cost stays calculated and intentional instead of accidental.
